...but, this article (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3437455.stm) <--- makes me laugh hysterically. like really, just read it, theres something so hilarious about how it's written.

"The whale attracted a lot of onlookers both before and after it exploded. "

i just can't stop laughing and i don't even know why!!!

does anybody else find this funny, or am i just a disturbing strange person? i just... oh god... it really really makes me laugh.

i'm sick. oh dear.

seriously, everytime i read it it just cracks me up. it's terrible, i'm a horrible person.

does anybody else appreciate the humour of this? i mean.. just read it!

Saw this a while ago...it's amusing.

Tho not as amusing as the video I've seen of a similar incident;

They can't move the Whale carcass so they think they'll be clever. What do you think happens when you blow a whale carcass up?
Hmm...probably a good time for all those onlookers to start running!

:?
funny how?

that the sick fucks got covered in whale flesh after deciding that they were going to take it off to dice it up to have a "look" at it?

That's quite funny, that probably made them feel quite sick...other than that...funny how?

lipstick_trash

well i think it's more the passive tone of the article more than anything, hehe, just the way the onlookers just commented that it smelt funny, they didnt seem bothered in the slighest, sort of "oh look... another whale seems to have exploded" it just cracked me up. yeh... yeh it's dfntly because we have sick senses of humour. hehe.

Once you leave your childhood....oh and puberty and become an adult...therefor maybe have an opinion of your own one day, then maybe you may have room to comment about whether or not you may have "hit on a raw nerve" with someone or not eh little one? until then have fun playing with your toys.

Heheh OK then I can do pedantic too ;) what misery were you referrring to with regard to the whale incident?
I personally find it rather amusing (I would have found it more amusing had I not already seen it a couple of months ago but that's another story) but I would not take kindly being told what I can and cannot consider amusing after all we all have differing senses of humour.

Dear Rivet....

I'm not tellin' anyone what to they should/shouldn't find funny me dear....
I was merely trying to work out what it was that WAS funny here.....
The misery i was refering to was the death itself of the whale.....
I personally find that sad.......but then....that's a whole other subject.

So to Lizard.......no "the thing" think you'll find it's actually called a whale ;) isn't suffering anymore once it's dead as it can no longer feel any pain.......nut it's not really a lughing matter that it's dead..is it?
I mean i wouldn't find it funny if one of my kittons died.
But again can i just point out that I AM NOT TELLING ANY OF YOU WHAT YOU SHOULD OR SHOULDN'T FIND FUNNY!!!!!

And finally yeah i guess we should laugh at sick minds ......bless them....

Unfortunately things like this happen (a little thing called nature I believe) It really is of no use getting hung up on it as it will happen to loads more defenseless little creatures (and humans too) before the day is out! Should we not make light of such situations with humour so toease our suffering? ;)

[quote]And finally yeah i guess we should laugh at sick minds ......bless them....

Where does peer pressure come into people sense of humour? As far as I can see the only person trying to lead people one way or the other here is yourself by telling us that finding this amusing is weak.

To Lizard..........

To answer you question would take length discussion but i'll try to do it in short.
I find any animals death distressing.
Even more so if there's something that could've been done to prevent it.
Am i constantly sad and mourning animals death's..when they die of natural causes ........no. its nature's way.
But when they die in front of me i am sad and grieve.
Or when they are made a spectacle of i find that sad.
Why?
To me that was a being, with a life.
Does that make me sad?
Yes it does to some people,i don't really give a shit to be honest.
I am not constantly sad and mourning animals death's of natural causes,i'm sad and angry at other things to do with animals...but that's a whole other subject...lol.

Anyway's hope that's kinda covered it.

ahem... have you ever met me/talked to me/enquired about my age? i could 50 years old for all you know, do not make assumptions about me merely because i don't share your sense of humour. all i did was say that i found something funny, how does that justify you accusing me of having no opinoin and being 12years old? what kind of logic is that? be more open minded. you have no right to rant about me like that when you don't even know me?

AND, as i did previously say, it was more the tone of the article that made me laugh. i shouldnt have to justify this to you but i will anyway. if you didnt find it funny thats cool, we have differing senses of humour. the world shall continue to spin.

If the whale is on the beach and it explodes, if no one is around to see it, does the whale actually explode?

Rivetmike
15-03-2004, 04:50 PM
Depends on whether or not there is any physical debris left over for us to be able to ascertain what may/may not have happened.

Surely if it did explode there would be some sort of tell tale sign, maybe a whale heart in a palm tree or something like that.

hahaha... that's so sick.. hahahahaa.

& i'd imagine a whale is the kinda physical debris it's hard to miss, they're not exactly small. if you look at the picture on the article u can actually see the hole where everything exploded from 8O

where abouts in the world do these things beach anyway? does it happen often? i'd assume that something the size of a whale would have the strength to fight the current & resist the beaching and therefore the explosion following? it's strange.

Beacsue they are so big once they beach it's almost near impossible for them or anyone else to get them back into water....that's sad watching them die.
