DJ'ing

Is there anyway of getting a DJ set at Slimelight? I'd love to have a go at DJ'ing sometime! I've DJ'd for about 5 years, but can't always play as much Industrial as i would like to as i DJ for a club that plays anything alternative.

If someone could let me know who to get in touch with, i'd love to have a shot!! :P

Surely you do guest slots though? Keeps things kinda mixed up rather than same djs playing same old stuff all the time??!?!

Do a set, burn it to CD, put in a resume, give it to Mak (or hand it in to the office), see what happens.

It works in a remerkably similar way to getting a gig anywhere, you gotta show what you can do.

resident djs will always think that. that's why you should do what blink suggested. then keep calling them to see when you can play... good luck

Cheers Panic......Don't want you to think i'm after permanant slots or anything, it's a bit of a way to treck every week just to DJ. Just wanted to DJ to a full on Industrial crowd rather than the odd few people that i get to DJ to up here about once every 6 months. I love to DJ and want to be able to play music to people who enjoy it, not just the odd few who like it :roll:

hey, i was sarcastic (on my part), but also realistic. prepare to get some resistance along the line, but it's like that with everything. just be patient and never give up. and even if you ARE after a permanent slot you shouldn't be apologising, not to me nor anyone else. you want the job, go get it.

Cheers, well if anything i'd only be after a slot once a month max cos the cost for getting down would soon bump up. Ł20 a week don't sound much, but it is when it adds up!

I'll give it ago, can only try. Do they prefer a compilation CD or tape of what i would play? Don't worry wont consist of lots of NIN, one track per set i usually play....if that!

By the way if it was you who played Apop - Love never dies and VNV Nation - Fearless on Saturday just gone, cheers, i danced me arse off!!!!

firstly, you should call the slimelight office and / or send a cd / tape to mak.

secondly, i wasn't playing last saturday and even if i was i don't think i would have been playing the above. my interests lie elsewhere. i'd suggest you look at my web page for playlists, but it's down at the moment as i'm changing servers.

I suppose it depends whether upi DJ, or just play one track after another.

Personally, I would just record a set you are playing, live, after all, that is what you will be doing if/when you play slimelight.

no, i'm affraid this saturday d.meyer is playing both live and dj-ing + franky d is, i think, dj-ing too. i'll probably be playing at the stunners. did 5 hour set there last saturday. nice place, lovely people who run it (stunners is a tranny club, so there are mainly transvestites and women around :lol: )
