Well there are some good numbers by Action Direct; I'll bring some with me on Saturday. .. . I'll try to think of some more (I suppose there is always Billy Braggs version of The Internationale) but not that goth . .. I'll have a think

There's a great deal of Punk style bands that fit the descriptions, but not Goth really as such. CRASS is a prime example (3 chords, but speak from there heart).

I think it's important to remember Goth evolved around Punk though.

Saw CRASS twice in the 80s fantastic band. Gothdoes not seem to get too political. I saw another thread on Crass recently on a goth related site. Cant think where though.

There's way more political material in Industrial (particularly in the 80s) than in Goth itself. Mark Stewart - As the Veneer of Democracy Starts to Fade (1985) - massive influence on 90s industrial such as NiN and Ministry (Stewart's crazed hysterical ranting vocal style actually a big influence on Birthday Party/ Nick Cave and therefore much subsequent goth when he was in his first band, The Pop Group). Also Test Dept The Unacceptable Face of Freedom from the same sort of period: Miners Strike paranoia, metallic rhythmic pounding.

Although this may seem a shameless plug, you really should check out our brand new cd, Grave New World.
Imagine if you took Fields of the Nephilim/Andrew Collins/Zachariah Sitchin, had a dance with Depeche Mode and a few beers with Killing Joke, then mixed it all up with post-structuralist notions of power, infused with Conflict-inspired resistance, and then you'll have some idea of what the album's all about.
For a sampler either check out our myspace page, or buy the super New Dark Age sampler from Strobelight records which opens with one of our tracks.
Hope this helps
