About the only Lab 4 I have heard the play is Dingaling *yawn*

You cannot be serious! I'll bet you've heard other tracks, even if you didn't notice 'em!

Maybe I just miss them , can you name them?

I've got some at home, but they all tend to sound like Ding-a-Ling after a while anyway!! lol

Nah, personally I think Dingaling is pretty poor, it doesn't have much of their great searing lead noises in it, I prefer stuff like Engineman and F8, or their trancey stuff like Concept of Love and Dreamland

*hint hint to all Slime DJ's!!*

i suggest you go to techno or trance clubs to hear those played properly (mixed in with other similar music). slimelight should be the place to hear truly underground electronic or other (yeah, ok, i mean goth) music. not trance, techno or euro-trash-pop.

I would have to agree with you there Panic, but if they are going to insist on playing stuff like the Prodigy, and all that charty techno stuff like "satisfaction", and Tiesto etc, then they could also play some good Lab 4.

And yes, I am am off to a decent Hard house night soon, to hear it in the "proper" environment!!

well, the fact is that people always* request popular stuff, and all the same ones come back all the time. it's like radio 1, people request top 20 even though radio 1 would play them anyway. how sad..... hence, i don't play requests. i'd rather play something not a lot of people have heard and spread the word. at least slimelight djs could play a bit of variety because they don't have to worry about their job (now i've said it)

*not always

I agree. While I don't object to hearing the occaisional "popular" tune at Slime if it fits in, I'd rather have the djs keep Slime with an underground vibe. It's what makes it different from everywhere else :)

I agree with Sin-Razorangel, more NOISE!!! To be honest sometimes upstairs feel like a really out of date trance club... and there is so much good old and new noise music. Rhytmic noise music goes well with other types of dancy stuff as well as electronica.

pretty please...

now, now. in my defense, i agree with most of the above comments, and that slimelight is slimelight because of its choice of music and its so called 'underground' vibe, but i was merely expressing my mood as it was then, and surely a forum could be considered in some respect as a form of sort of subconcious-automatic thought, jotting down what's on your mind. kinda like how you can say things through an sms that u wouldn't usually say over the phone. babble babble...
anyhoo i reckon lab4 are great and the energy is just super amazing, but in reality i would prefer to come to slimes to hear noizier, darker 'undergroundier' stuff, so thanx for not stooping to the level of teenybopper 'satisfaction', although i reckon a good laugh would be had if someone like dulce liquido did a remix to the likes of 'push me ***(loud thumping noizey noizes)*** it doesn't mean anything... it's just sex...

I personally would like to hear different stuff too but I completely understand the DJ's reasons for playing what they do......

.....I used to think that DJing would be the easiest job in the world.....I'm not so sure anymore ;)

But look at the night Combi Christ played, only a few of us who knew who they were, were actually there standing waiting to dance. By the time they play ed their 3rd song the dancefloor was full.

If you play the music the people will come, how can we get the scene to grow if we constantly play the same crap week in week out. I agree with Sin, more of the underground stuff, DJs usually get this sort of stuff off the various labels and if they play and people like it, the record companies get to do albums with the bands thus exposing them to more of the general public, by this I mean the Gummy Goths.

A fair point Lizard but I think Combichrist may have had the edge over a recorded track as they were in front of us live (kinda ;)).

OK for arguments sake let's agree on a better balance between old and new (remember though what is new to one person is really not necessarily new for another),also I wouldn't say that 100% of patrons are really bothered about what it is they are dancing too.......as long as there is some kind of beat.

This is very true, patrons like ourselves are at the fore front of the music scene (lol but as you know we have been at Slimes heard something and said that is cool, even though the Djs? couldn't tell us who the artist is, but the point is it's good to hear something new, or hear about new artists.

Always amusing (if not a little annoying) when that happens. Still, shows that some of the dj's are putting some effort in to find new stuff for us.

I think that the best way to introduce new material to a club is to mix it into a set with tunes that people do know...that way you shouldn't end up clearing the dancefloor! Saying that, you can always go for lots of unkknown stuff, just keep an eye on how well it's going down.
Personally I'm more than happy to dance to stuff I've never heard before, as long as it's good :)
