I am new on here and have been thinking of going to Slimelight for a while now... a few of my friends have been and they have commented on it being very good, and the people there being so friendly.

I take an interest in all genres of music... though, especially Industrial/Ebm/Electronica/Synth-Pop, etc...

I am really confused about this whole membership thing? I understand that there is a dress code, but the membership thing confuses me. Does it mean that I cannot go unless someone signs me in or something?

It's just I've been told that you can go straight in from one person, and that you need to be a member from another.

Dont worry about that :

If you are in the good dress code, actually, the security will probably let you go in...
But anyway, if you want to go in, theorically, you have to come with a member, it mean a person who had a card of membership. like me.
If you want, because i will probably go next week, we can meet in front of the club, to be sure you will enter (and i think it's less expensive for persons invited than for "freelancers")
If you like the place, you can get your membercard in fullfiling an paper which should be signed by two persons already member, and it's quite easy to find (just ask in the stairs).

I haven't the money to go anytime soon, but I know I will definately be going sometime this year.

If you're a member it costs Ł5 to get in, if you're not it costs Ł8 (providing you're dressed the part). Membership costs a tenner, lasts a year and as stated above has to be signed by two members to qualify. Non-members dressed appropriately should always be able to get in and then decide wether it's worth joining. Then all they gotta do is befriend a couple of members and get their signatures and they're in!!

You forgot to mention the sacrificing of the townie on the top floor which is a part of the intiation ceremony. They have to eat the ears washed down with a can of strongbow. :wink: :twisted:

Hello and welcome to the mad house.

I'm the resident baker. I make the best tastiest flapjacks the world over. Really clean out the old intestine aswell with that high fibre.

My face has been removed from the avatar place because it was found to be offensive. I also write some good poetry. Oh look, my ego is a bit big, time to get off my high horse...I'm actually an average poet, photographer, musician and baker. Also a student.

Oh yeah, Slimelight is cool, went there once, want to go again very soon, and maybe extenuating circumstances won't stop me next time. I want to meet these mad forum people. They're as crazy as me. :D

However on a more serious note does being a member get you anything other than cheaper entry?

I'm not likely to get the opportunity to vist two times per annum let alone the four visit necessary to make it worthwile! (work abroad for at least 6 months every year and live a Ł20 - Ł30 train fare away)

Nah, that's your lot. If your not going to be down more than three times it's not worth the membership....unless you're just after the prestige of being a member!!

iam so rivet i have the goth card and still be more rivet than yow.

iam so industrial when i cough i get environmental health round for noxious fume emission...

i mean after all a rivet head is a goth with the industrial add on kit...

we all know that but the truth is, at the time i was just too pissed to tick the right box ;)
