I've been given an all night pass by my wife for the 27th and was thinking about toddling down to London again for a night at Slimes. My worry is that people keep talking about attendance being down and what with it being the last Saturday of the month and the DAF concert being postponed that it might be a bit dead. Of course this could just be that Slimes is now a lot bigger than when I used to go and people are just spread out more :)

Are there still generally enough people on the middle floor (or at a push the top floor) on any given night to dance the entire night away 'til 7:30am? As long as there's a couple of other people there I don't mind, just not overly keen at being the only person on the dance floor unless it's stuff I know well :D

As far as I know SAM and Inertia are playing during Slimes, so that should bump the numbers up a bit. It's been busy whenever I've been recently, but that's usually after gigs... I'm not exactly a regular anymore!

Cool. It was busy last time I went, but that was Halloween so not really a good indication of a normal night :)

Train tickets are now booked so I'm commited although thanks to engineering works getting home is going to be a huge laugh

I was there recently and was a bit surprised at how many were there. There was a queue to get in (around midnight) and the two top dance floors were pretty busy. Thought the music was a bit off that particular night, but did enjoy myself.

last 2 saturdays have been pretty busy. This weekend gone there were several live acts on including Faderhead but yes it has been busy. Perhaps the nights drawing in are bringing out the goth in London. :)

With luck I will be there the next couple of weekends - providing the pacemaker holds out.

Shame I missed Faderhead as that sounded like it would have been a good night. One of these days I may even make it down when VLRK is doing a DJ set (or better still Grendel are doing a gig - maybe when the new album is out *crosses fingers*).

Pacemaker failing is a weak excuse for not coming. I've got gout and kidney stones and will still be there, hobbling about on the dance floor pretending I'm still 20 something :D

Grendel playing would be top. I would grease my zimmerframe for that!

Why is my first thought: I wonder if you can get glow zimmerframes? :S

Sorry to go a bit off topic but...

I'm really pining for the frontpage here with the gig listings to be populated properly with the details. Example- this Saturday there's Iszoloscope and Autoclav1.1 joining Mono No Aware (which makes it a great lineup :D) and for people whose attendance may depend on a casual check of who's on this could mean they go elsewhere on the night.

Absolutely... there are also 4 bands playing before Slimes, all having their London debut gig, and could really use the support that being listed on the website could give.

The line-up is:
The Ladder
Spucktute
AFX
Cease2Xist

Doors at 6pm

... which I didn't actually know about either, I only knew about the sets overnight in Slimes down to being told *whilst in Germany*.

Hmmm - if I'd known I'd have booked my train tickets for earlier. As is it I'm getting there at gone midnight so I suspect I'll have missed them.

No worries about the 'off topic' post this is a sound idea. The events page is somewhat spartan
