Ok just wanted to initiate a poll regarding how many people on the site actually go to Slimelight on a regular basis.... or have ever been

I've only been a handful of times, but i'm going at least 3 more times over the next month.
I think it depends on how alive I'm feeling.... From that its pretty easy to work out i've spent most of this year feeling pretty dead

Why not... travelling with some people is more fun, than travelling alone :) :D :)

I used to live in Camden, which is convenient for everything, and I am currently living in a town outside Wolverhampton, I have to drive 35miles each way to go to Birmingham for a Hard House club (I like hard house, but there are times only ebm will do), the industrial/ebm scene seems distinctly unreliable. The only chat room I could find for the scene was full of snotty goths (not that I am saying that all goths are snotty, just the ones on this board ) And as for going anywhere local, there is one townie club, lots of townie pubs, and public transport stops at 11pm, so if I should be silly enough to want to go out locally, I have to stay sober, or spend 40 mins on a bus for a 10 min car journey!!
I think that is pretty close to hell.

I went through a stage of going every week without fail but recently I've been going less frequently but still once a month at least! :P

I also went through the "I'm part of the furniture" stage, but these days it's every other weekend.
Too many couples for predatory types.

I've been going, on and off since '87....nowadays, pretty much every week,( including Fridays if there's something apprpriate on) from opening 'til closing...I reckon that makes me the Grand-daddy 'round here.

I have slimelight binges when I go every weekend for a month or two and then go through withdrawal for a while and the cycle starts over again.
It seems to be better in the summer for some unfathomable reason?

Go by Coach, I do, and I live near Brum, costs about Å25 including travel pass in London. About as cheap as it is for me to go out in Brum!!!

I used to go once a month, though I've not been for about 3 months. Busy life etc... :(

I'd call that a tie - I started in '87 too, a couple of weeks after I arrived in London. It was known as the KitKat then (which was confusing, because there was another KitKat in Leicester Square), though I think the official name was SoundFX. It was in an abandoned Bank of Scotland building in Angel just opposite the end of Torrens St. which is now a pawnbrokers. Was an every-week attendee for a few years, but now it's special occasions only.
Bit of History there...you actually seem to pre-date the Slime, Ross. I didn't remember the Kitkat was ever at the bank!.
Although, do you remember the Slimelight at Rosebury avenue????
I bet Lucy does.
The bank was a strange place - loads of catacomb-like arches and vaults under the pavement. And a very small and uneven dance floor.
Yeah, the first night at Rosebery was weird - the bare concrete dancefloor started to powder, or perhaps the place had been used to store something powdery, and we all came out as magpie Goths, white up to the knees. Kinda like the Neph talcum powder thing in reverse. I think they washed it or painted it or something, because it improved.
So, do you remember the Libyan embassy?
So do you remember the Libyan Embassy ?
Nope, but I know a man who does. Not that this was before my era, just a case of my being more involved with the competition at that time. I believe on that particular night I was in a little thing on Charing Cross road called Sacrilege, run by the Badlands contingent.....we heard about it though....bit of a short night by all accounts!

Now go pretty much every week. and try to make friday nights as well.
[quote]...bit of a short night by all accounts!
Yeah :D - I'd barely got inside, and was upstairs having a nosey 'round when the music stopped and I encountered a large plod coming up the stairs. He asked me politely to leave, and I politely did as I was told...
I still have photos of the gathering at Piccadilly Circus beforehand (Eros draped in punks & Goths - ask Maria if she remembers the "wedding"), and one of a big portrait of Gaddhaffi.
We all ended up back at the shoe store (again). Ah, the joys of squat clubs!

Going to Slimes has somehow turned into a pipe-dream for me...
I have wanted to go for as long as I care to remember, but for various reasons (mainly lack of cash and a place to crash!) I have not been.
What made matters worse was that midway through last year I moved away from my circle of friends who went to Slimes (albeit infrequently) - and they in turn have moved. So that kinda bug*ered my chances of going anytime soon.
For shy types like me, i'd be left feeling a little intimidated if I didn't know at least ONE person in the whole club!
Now that I have moved, i've been rattling on about missioning it to London for ages.....My main whinge now is that i've told people about it and THEY ended up going before ME!
SWINES!!!
Has anyone else had this problem?......Maybe it's just me!!!
P.s. Sorry for the long post/rant
Just go - you don't need anywhere to crash, since the tubes are running by closing time, so you can make your way back to the Brighton train without difficulty. And Slimeys don't bite - I hardly know anyone there now (most of my old mates have grown up & moved on, unlike me), but I still have a good time on the infrequent occasions when I go. Sure, there are some stuck up posers; I just ignore 'em. Most folks are friendly enough. Mind you, I go for the music and a chance to dance for seven hours - socialising is something that happens when they're not playing a track I like.

anybody remmember westborne grove or patrick the ex dj
I missed Wesbourne Grove - it closed not long before I arrived in London, and the "Kit Kat Klub" had relocated to the bank building in Angel. I do remember Patrick - and, if your image is a picture of you, you look familiar...

oh yes its old luckily i age in reverse
So you're now approaching the embryonic stage, right? And I thought that was just me. I wonder what it says about us that we're both using pictures taken in the Eighties, nothing I want to hear I'm sure.
