I thought it would be Slimes (twas last time), but I thought that it might be mentioned here (hopeful, I know, but what can I say, I am an optomist)

Seeing as it's not listed here *officially* I'd say it's still a maybe. ;)

I can't see Hocico being very impressed, having been expecting to play in London as their site obviously states after coming over from Mexico, and then not actually playing.

True, but it does not yet specify a venue.

True, but who else do you know that puts on a band and doesn't tell anyone till 2 days before the event.......

Well I think it's safe to say that if it is gonna be anywhere in London ticketed sales can't be an option with just under two weeks to go.

Well, that rather narrows it down to one venue.

OK, I admit it, they are playing an acoustic set in my kitchen, featuring a kettle, a pot and a frying pan.
Tickets are 50p each, limited to 4, and the gig starts at 4am, and actually on Sun 10/10.

Seen them done it, refused to pay the prices for t-shirts in this country...
... but
did anyone else feel that there was something missing?
maybe its because they are having a big i mean BIG tour on at the moment and are usually playing several venues within one week, one weekend even, that they have failed to impress me.
dont get me wrong, i like Hocico a lot but i felt they are doing their stuff mechanically and have had less inclination to interact with the audience, outside the 'Cruxshadow style' i climb onto you, i shake your hand and sing into your face, than Spetsnaz.
on the other hand, i found a couple of times that its hard to recognise the bands when they are playing at the slimelight venue, as like in the case of Feindflug, the higher sounds seem to be too quiet as opposed to the lower sounds.
... which is terribly ungrateful of me, as we had a FREE Hocico gig at our regular club
... which in return is FANTASTIC :D
oh, did the missing DJ ever turn up or did he melt into the shadows of Slimelights toxic waste toilets?
:?:   8O :D

I agree that CD & merchandise costs are ridiculous compared to the continent. A good Å3 - Å4 more! 8O
I have to say that I wasn't overly enthralled with Hocico's new material (too slow), but the old stuff was still delivered with balls. The sound mix was a little too clean for my liking, a dirtier sound goes well with "aggressive industrial", but that's only my opinion. I didn't have any problems with the sound at Feindflug...the bass was high in the mix, but I didn't have any trouble working out which track was which.

I sort of agree with Snowwy.Hocico were by no means bad but perhaps I was expecting too much of them? (mainly because I heard that their gig at Slime from a couple of years back was very memorable).I though Spetsnaz did very well though and definately won themselves a few new fans :)

yes i liked Spetsnaz very much (as i did at Infest and WGT) :D :D :D
i still feel i would have liked the sound better with the higher notes more audible... and as in the case of Feindflug, i know their sonsg well enough to know which songs i listen to but its just a tad drowned by the lower pitched sounds and doesnt reflect the full quality of the music.
Hocico.. maybe again but maybe when they are not touring the world?

Spetsnaz did put on a good show...they always tend to be very enthusiastic performers. :)
I don't think the fact that Hocico are doing a large tour really excuses a rather tame performance (in comparision to Spetsnaz). It was the very beginning of the tour and they should be fairly fresh. 8O

Hocico were a bit of a disaapointment, only because i've seen them before and they were much better then. Sound on Sat. night was very disappointing to say the least, that probarbly put me off them a bit.
While on merchandising, at the Slayer gig they were charging Å20 a t shirt which was more than a piss take.

Compare that price to the 13 Euros for a T-shirt at Maschinenfest and you'll see what a blatant rip off it is in this country!

simply vote with yoru feet, get stuff mail order if you can or get mates to get it for you when they go to festivals in other countries... dont pay the prices over here anymore... they are bleeding us dry with the prices for music CDs and merchandise !!!!!

I bought a NIN T-shirt on one of the tours, and saw someone with the same T-shirt two weeks later, so asked them what they thought of the gig...they had bought the T-shit from HMV for Å5 less.
I am happy to pay a bit more for a"tour" t-shirt if it is at least "exclusive" for a few months, not available in any old shop.
As for Spetznaz, reminded me a lot of Nitzer Ebb, and I enjoyed the first couple of Hocico tracks, as they seemed a bit mellower than their other stuff, but then I thought it all got a bit samey.

Spetsnaz did indeed sound a bit like Nitzer Ebb, not too surprising since they list them as one of their sources of inspiration (along with Front 242, Die Krupps, and DAF if you're curious).
I liked Spetsnaz. I also thought it was a really good clubnight. I had been a bit worried with all the negative stuff I'd heard about the slime lately.

Nah, don't think he did...well, I certainly never saw him.Wonder who he was!? We shall probably never know:(

he has become part of the toxic waste that is stuck to the slimelight toilet floor... if you listen hard, you might still hear him snigger, howl and sing industrial tunes ;)

thankfully the toilet did not eat him, like this fine example of a loo that swallowed a cyber goth with his/her glowsticks at another club...

I liked Spetsnaz, they were certainly quite old school and simplified (in a good way). I even thought they were better than Hocico who I was quite disappointed by. An hour of screensaver and then some generic evil noise that sounded like Wumpscut's cast offs. They were ok, but given the hype I was expecting a lot more.
I also thought I saw Snowwy twirling glow sticks at the back at one point, but then I'm not an upstairs person; I don't know who you lot are. :P
