Hi,

Couple of song idents required, with possibly the shittest descriptions ever. I heard them both on Saturday and it's driving me up the wall trying to find out what they are. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, first one - heard this upstairs. It's a banging techno industrial number, with a chorus featuring the repeated vocal "This iiiiiis... THIS iiiis..." and then some other lyrics I cannot possibly remember. It sounds kind of vaguely like Leftfield - Open Up, because the vocalist sounds very vaguely like John Lydon, or at least it did at about five in the morning on Sunday. "This is" is perhaps the most useless lyric ever for Google purposes.

The second description is even more laughable, but here goes. It's basically another piece of pounding pounding techno music (heard on the middle floor), and the chorus line is "you are an angel", building to a big shouty crescendo, and then it all kicks.

Crap descriptions, but I'm fairly confident anyone who knows the songs will be able to work it out from them. Help!

The first is: Pop Will Eat Itself - Cape Connection (Secret Knowledge Trousered Up Mix)

The second sounds like it's Front 242 - Happiness (Live)

Spot on SP.

Even with the vague descriptions (I would have got the 242 but had no idea about the other one 'til you mention PWEI).

Right... Now another question... When I was at Slime on NewYearsEve 2K4, there was this song on the upper floor.. Kind of breakbeat with an earbleeding sample of Slayers RAINING BLOOD. Anyone knows what I'm talking bout? Would be cool, if you could give me the title.
Cheers and a happy new year!

Concord Dawn - Raining Blood

I think. Was wondering about that myself.

I thought it was a mix by a Ninja Tune artist possibly Amon Tobin but I know for sure that a user of this site named euroboy will know as he has just purchased it.Why not PM him?

I'm not entirely sure. The Concord Dawn version is essentially breakbeat, always reminds me a bit of that 'Sunglasses At Night' song, with the aforementioned Raining Blood sample on it (and also a more disguised NIN sample on top I think).

I've also heard the sample being played at Slimelight attached to something breakbeat, and it could well be a different song entirely, but who knows being strained through the Electrowerkz sound system? DJ setlist posting should be enforced better.

I know the Concord Dawn track you mean & can totally see where you're getting the "Sunglasses at night" link from

I'm not sure I've heard it being played at Slime tho, but I've not heard the track with the Raining Blood sample in it, so it's a possibility.

The Concord Dawn track is from their recent album Uprising. Tis a pretty good album if you like Drum & Bass too :)
