i know this isnt the most riveting of topics, but i was wondering if anyone here is from around high wycombe?
i moved here (seriously!) from staffordshire to go to uni in 2002 and have yet to amass a large group of people to go to the slime; im lucky if i can drag my bloke there! i am a town novelty, alone here in my music tastes and it sucks.
foofoo's best advice; if u are gonna move house, stay the hell away from high wycombe!

Strange timing - I was there last night!
I didn't see any posters up proclaiming FooFoo a weirdo, offering a reward for your capture or anything. Or have you got them all running scared? :D
Sorry for the off topic not very helpful reply, but I have to say I love the name: littlebunnyfoofoo :D
You're a Lenore fan then I take it? ;)
Tis great...I love Roman Dirge & Jhonen Vasquez's work.

Hey Flux, have you found anywhere in the UK that stocks much of Jhonen Vasquez's stuff? I was trying to get hold of some JTHM last year and couldn't find any over here.... :(
I have indeedy mate. Try Mega City Comics here in Camden for some of the stuff (they have the JTHM compendium & more), and also Forbidden Planet had some last time I was there, altho not as much as Mega City.
Failing that I can ask my friend if he'd be kind enough to order some in if you want? He got me the Something at the Window Scratching, Glook Cookie collections, 30 Days Of Night, Bear, Filth, Silent Hill, and a whole bunch of other stuff recently :)

well, no there's no reward...as yet.... i didnt literally mean i was a 'novelty', like something you might find in a cracker perhaps :P
as for comics crash, you can go online to megacity comics (look for them in a search engine coz i forget the website) you can order pretty much the whole back issues online. What on earth did you have to go to wycombe for, was your god punishing you or something!
oh, and flux, yeah im a HUGE dirge fan! im a lenore nerd...i admit it. Have you seen the 'nemi' comics ( in The Metro newspaper)? And there's a fantastic on-line comic called 'Writhe and shine' which im currently enamoured with....
...oh god - i AM a nerd!

Ah, thank you kindly both of you - I can see my life being enriched with morbid-comic-book-weirdness very soon....
FooFoo, perhaps you should consider a career as a full-time novelty? Imagine the fun - jumping out of boxes of Sugar Puffs and frightening the children etc. And I'm sure you're more fun than the cheap plastic moustache you normally get in crackers!

you'd better believe it!
I have indeed seen Nemi, it's most amusing. Did you know they put the comic strips online on the Metro site?
Clicky here for Nemi fun (http://www.metro.co.uk/metro/standard/article.html?in_article_id=11835&in_page_id=1)
foofoo, if you haven't read it already, I'd highly recommend Johnny The Homicidal Maniac :D

there's a comic book stall that comes to wycombe (a surprising and welcome event indeed!) and the nice bloke there is ordering JTHM issue 1 upwards for me so i can start from the beginning..
oh, and u can actually see all nemi cartoons translated fron the norwegian somewhere on www.iolaire.com (i dunno where to go from there, a link took me to this site..)
[have you seen the 'writhe and shine' online comics? if not, go to www.writheandshine.com. its 'fookin' brilliant!']
also, have you read 'outlook:grim'? its a SLG comic and im trying to get issue 1 coz it looks great...
wow, check us out; we should start a nerdy comic thread
...i really need to get out more.......
Cool, thanks for the links...will have a look when I've got time. Am a bit busy this morning! Hopefully thing's will start quietening down towards the lunching period.
Btw, you can get the whole JTHM collection as a "book". That's the one that I picked up, worked out a lot better than buying them individually.
Comics are a great form of entertainment, don't let anyone tell you otherwise ;)
Hey littlebunnyfoofoo,
I'm from High Wycombe ... well, spent half my life there!
I moved to London about 4 or 5 years ago and never looked back! ... mmm, that's a bit of a lie really, as I was in High Wycombe last night with Crash!
I've still got quite a few friends round there. It's not too bad, but it ain't as good as living in central London!
:)

youre right there (well, i can only assume as ive not lived in central london...not yet!)
what were you guys back for? i assume it wasnt for a night out at 'here and now' :P
i work in a local pub, things have got better since then but i am sooo fed up of having no where fun to go... it could be worse i suppose...
ah well, i will continue to save up my hard earned pennies so i can venture out to the slime once in a full moon!
We just took our bikes (motor variety) out for a blast. Wycombe is my old stomping ground with familiar roads. I've also got quite a few friends round there, so we dropped in on some.
What pub do you work in?

What pub do you work in?
...i work in the Antelope; i dont think you'd recognise it now, its twice the size! and there are no more sticky carpets either!....
I drank my first ever pint of Guinness in there on St Patrick's day, a few years ago!
I used to like The Goblin ... it was fun! ... used to know lots of people in there.
The Flint Cottage (opposite the station) used to be a great gigging pub ... but that was a good few years ago now!

hehe, i love the goblin, its my fav pub too...although i havent been in there much at the moment as its gone a bit downhill... might pop in tonight actually!
i used to go to the white horse a lot last year but its too far from where i live now so i cant be arsed...its good for gigs but as you probably know, its in a dodgy area!
did you find any good pubs/clubs a bit closer than london? (i heard The Ship in Marlow was quite good...)

My boyfriend is originally from High Wycombe so we go out there fairly frequently to meet up with friends. We usually end up in the Hobgoblin or, more recently the Hogshead pub. I found that the Antelope was full of a scary lot of trendies when we were there last, but that might have changed now?
My boyfriend used to live on the West Wycombe road, right near the White Horse but for some reason he never liked going there, so I've not been to that one.
I guess you've settled in a bit now since your original post but I was surprised that you said you couldn't find any others in the area to travel to the Slimelight with, I always found Wycombe to be considerably well populated with Goth types - at least compared to Harrow, where we live now anyway!
