just wanted to invigorate this thread as I saw this film last night.
Absolutely blinding... grim vision of apocalypse, and yet full of a sense of hope that was missing from 28 weeks later. Also some beautiful tender shots and impressive long takes of action sequences. Totally gripping realism (wobbly camera and blood on the lens...) Definitely one to watch (on a big screen if you have one! :D)
Makes you think of war, and of a totaly FUBAR London, brilliant brilliant brilliant!
...AND Reza's in it!! Which in some circles would be a bonus but in my books makes it simply unwatchable!!! :) I mean, where will it end? Frankie Flag as a 'Darth'? Before you know it you wont be able to turn a movie on without watching someone you know from Slime prancing around in front of the camera suspending all suspension of disbelief. War my ass, more like an Inertia concert with guns where the stage has been invaded by part of Killing Joke! Well, that's my opinion anyway. Jealousy? You decide!

OMFG! that boy gets everywhere! I must admit, I always suspect I'll see people I know as extras whenever there's a film set in London, but it's usually rubbish/suspect projects that such characters pop up in.
That would have spoiled the realism somewhat!
Actually, staying on subject, exactly HOW good is this movie? I've read some good reviews but am always suspicious when a movie appears on DVD before I've even heard of it....and that prat from King Arthur can't bloody act to save his life which is a bit of a drawback too.

I went to see it at the cinema when it first came out and recommended to everyone I know, and some who I didn't in the queue!
It's bleak, savage, atavistic cinematography. It gave me the same feeling I had whilst reading Oryx And Crake, that there is no hope. I love dark cinema, so it appealed to me tremendously. Well worth a view Fad!

I thought it was pretty good, wonderfully bleak feel and that stoic British thing going on (although a bit V for Vendetta) in the face of global chaos.
Much as I worship at the shrine of Michael Caine though I thought it was a mistake having him in the film as it unbalanced it somewhat, you can't help thinking - bloody hell, that's Michael Caine - which is fine in a leading role but I didn't think worked so well here.
I'd give it an 8 out of 10
