i seem to have spent the weekend watching
About A Boy (Far better than I expected, although it goes very sentimental for the last 30 mins)
Wings Of Desire (Wim Wender - was turned in to City Of Angels). Interesting, worth a watch. Has Peter Falk in it

saw The Dark Knight, good but too long.
just bought Stardust. still have 24:Redemption to watch
I thought that Dark Knight lacked everything that made "Batman Begins" great. Heath Ledger was great, and there were a couple of good scenes, but it would have been helped if Christian Bale lost his voice completely, rather than having that shout-whisper crap. Bad form!
Stardust made me sad because my favourite writer makes lousy films (and no, I don't mean Jane Goldman!) booo!

Hm, coincidence or what? I dug out Wings of Desire on Friday having not seen it for years! I love the incredible randomness of having an actor play themselves in a film. I think it's an absolute gem, good choice!

Not only does he play himself, but he isn't himself, if you get what I mean

Yep the only good thing about Dark Knight was Heath Ledger.
Watched "I Am Legend", not bad, some silly holes in the plot.
Saw "The Wrestler" at the weekend, hmmmm, not sure, but still thinking about it later, so must be better than I thought at the time.
Saw the trailer for " Gran Torino", Clint is one baad old dude.

Last night a few friends and I took over the top floor of our local pub to have a movie screening. We'll be watching a different 80's movie every two weeks and this week was... FUCK YEAH TOP GUN! (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303153/)
Anyway, we had a nice night and my friend Simon decided that he would also write the rules for a Top Gun drinking game. Long story short, I rose to the challenge and got rather drunk. I will try to remember the rules over the course of the day and write them for you as and when they come to me!
Iron Man - Great comic book adaptation. Props to Robert Downey Jr for a great performance. An all round enjoyable film :)
My Name Is Bruce - Bruce Campbell stars as Bruce Campbell, who gets abducted by a small town to help them rid them of their monster...Bruce thinks it's another acting job, but little does he know the monster's real. Super cheesy B-Movie, but a fun film if you're a Bruce Campbell fan...BC both stars & directs, and suitably takes the piss out of himself & his "B-Movie" actor status :)
Ren & Stimpy: The Lost Episodes - The episodes they weren't allowed to make for tv. Seriously fucked up stuff...a bit of a headfuck seeing Ren & Stimpy swearing, smoking, and even Stimpy getting pregnant! XD

I've recently gotten sucked into the Death Note anime episodes and have seen both live action movies in the last month. Saw Star Trek at the IMAX which was incredible.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - quite good, some serious holes in the plot.
Stardust - very good if you accept it as a family/kids film
Been watching The Wire, on TV, as it was recommended on here. Excellent, one of the best TV shows I've ever seen and even rivals 24 for me.

if someone is into fantasy/vampire genre, I recommend "Bathory" (2008) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0469640/. Not Hollywood but Czech, bit weird, however well done, just different..

Broken Saints, over 2 weeks
Ergo Proxy (really good - will be expensive to get all so wallet will soon be empty). Though does raise question - do we brits make any stuff like this?
Currently in middle of Virus Buster Serge.

The last Underworld movie (Rise of the Lycans) was pretty good. I guess I didn't have high expectations after Underworld - Evolution, so I was pleasantly surprised.

A Knights Tale - excellent
Cloverleaf - supposed to be good
The Crow - very good
Subway - remember it being 'interesting'
Just watched the clip of 2012, wow!

Have just joined lovefilm and it's really bringing the goods.
Burn after Reading - fantastic film with a great cast. Really liked the paranoid atmosphere at the end! You just have to see it to find out.
Persepolis - Animated story of an Iranian girl growing up in Europe to escape the danger at home, before losing everything and having to go back. It's more entertaining than it sounds, as well as moving... hell, I cried my eyes out. She's pretty sassy and fun throughout. Absolutely brilliant stuff.

Paranormal Activity - just don't bother, unless you can guarantee to watch it in a cinema surrounded by lots of teenagers, who some how seem to enjoy the film and whose reactions and comments are more interesting than the film.

Watched Twilight, my bro had it so I thought I would see what all the fuss was about. Good, but nothing special, I can see how it would appeal to teen girlies though.
True Blood, now that's worth watching. On C4 Weds. Interesting premise and characters, looking forward to future plot developments.

continuing the Lovefilm Coen brothers binge... "Barton Fink" is pretty darn awesome. They always seem to do cracking endings too, great stuff.

The Ian Curtis biopic "Control" is truly brilliant, and the knowledge of how it ends casts a terrible shadow over the proceedings after that first flash of success. Beautifully done though, but have something happier on standby to watch afterwards!
Also finally caught the very silly "Dead Snow". Nazis, zombies and drunken Norwegians cracking daft jokes with each other. Awesome.
Also rewatched The Shawshank Redemption, which I'd recommend to anyone. Guaranteed to cheer anyone up.

This is true. Very silly film, but great fun. It's the Norwegian Evil Dead...with NAZI ZOMBIES!! What's not to love?!
Also rewatched The Shawshank Redemption, which I'd recommend to anyone. Guaranteed to cheer anyone up.
Top film :)
Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer
2009 "monster movie" horror affair made with a bit of a tip of the hat to the 80's movies in the genre. Robert Englund does a cracking job as a teacher possessed by a demon, slowly turning into a hideous tentacled freak! The movie clearly takes some inspiration from the Evil Dead movies and was great fun to watch from start to finish. If you're a horror fan, check it out :) Thoroughly enjoyable silliness :)

spoilsport.
Over Xmas I have been mostly watching:
(all in lovely 1080p no less (^_^))
True Blood - Season 1
Rather good series where Vampires have "come out of the coffin" and are living amongst the humans. As SlimJim mentioned earlier, there are some interesting characters, great situations, dark comedy and some interesting plot twists and developments. I watched Season 1 over the course of 2 days and can't wait to see Season 2 :)
Blood The Last Vampire
Live action of the Anime flick of the same name. Worth a watch for the fight scenes, some nice stylised imagery...and the demon slaying of course.
X-Men Origins - Wolverine
The back story to Wolverine from the X-Men fame. Decent action flick with plenty of fights and big badda booms.
Mutant Chronicles
A giant machine falls to earth making mutants out of humans and attempting to take over the planet. Queue a band of "earths last and only hope" soldiers and their attempt to destroy said machine. Not the best, but not too bad either.
Speed Racer
Some fantastic races, and jaw dropping, eye popping visuals! The whole film was quite trippy tbh! The plot was pretty throw away, but it was worth a watch for the visuals.
Inglorious Basterds
Watch Brad Pitt and his bunch of Basterds stick it to the Nazis. Black humour, plenty of deaths, and entertaining to boot. w00t.
Trick R Treat
Horror anthology in the Tales From The Crypt and Creepshow vein. All the tales happen on Halloween night and are interlinked by this lovely little fella called Sam

Inglorious Basterds
This one was great, Tarantino at his best..
I also recomend from the latest:
An Education (some remarkable performances) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1174732/
Invictus (I don't follow rugby but C.Eastwood is a goddamned good director) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1057500/
Dorian Gray (prince Caspian starred beautifully:) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1235124/

Seen a few good movies that normally wouldn't be my cup of tea (gone off war films, or so I thought)
Hurtlocker - soundtrack features Ministry! loved it.
Green Zone - more war in Iraq
and
The girl with the dragon tattoo - Salander kicks ass!

O.k. I admit it, I'm a sucker for these silly action films. I enjoy them though. Resident Evil:Afterlife is enjoyable enough, though the story-line is starting to get a little bit stretched now.
Saw preview for "Priest", which looks pretty good - though contrary to the advertising it bares very little resemblance to the tokyopop graphic novels. It's out next year. (I'm still waiting for the last few to be released in translation - and hope the film will inspire the publishers to get their act together).

Yeah, something like that mate. Strange, I always thought that getting my balls licked would make me happy, but those movies have left an underlying urge to smash my own head in with a lump hammer.
Funny how things work!

I like the review style.
Course if I could lick my own balls I don't think I would ever want to go to the movies again. :)
