Do any DJs here ever play any music from amateur musicians?
Im sure there are lots of people, like myself, who write music, and would love to hear their music played in a club environment, to see how people react to it on the dance floor.
Maybe it would be intriguing to make up a whole set of amateur music to be played at slimes?
you could advertise at slimes or on here for musicians to submit their demos.
Try handing some of your stuff to the DJs ... they already play quite a bit of stuff written by their patrons.
Good luck!

Good luck indeed but I think an entire amateur set would be a bad idea though as the DJ would run the risk of an empty dancefloor for the duration of the set (after all people like *some* familiarity when out at clubs).
The odd track should be fine if good enough :)

I think you'll get a good reaction to your music, so far people who have listened to your albums have loved them, Me Included.
I'd love to dance to your songs at slimes that would be so cool
you could also ask on here if anyone wants to hear a demo? that way you can get a response to your music from people before you go hand it to a DJ, would give you some idea as to whether it would be appriciated

yeah i think those words would fit the bill!
um you can plug my music for me yes, but it wont be any good cos i have taken my website down, so there is no source for people to obtain my music so hahahahahaa!
however, i do wish to get another site going sometime, just when i have a better server:( the server that i was running kept cutting out my internet connection every time someone downloaded something from me; dont know why :?

I've started to hand round some demos and will be doing so with slimes and some artists/bands at some point. Also got some band contacts in the States who know a few DJs that play similar clubs over there. Get your music out to whoever you can but just make sure you do the important thing of protecting your material somehow :)
All the best!

yeah i usually do the sending music to myself by recorded delivery thing, so i have proof that the music is mine

Yeah that's the cheapest method and it works well as long as you cover every possible aspect of your work within it. I do that myself and will do until I can afford something official and much safer.
What's the genre BTW?

the genre is best described as "random"

Yeah but even something vague...is it electronic (programmed, performed, sequenced) or is it like a live band (bass, elec guit, drums, vox etc)...or is it a mix of both?
Would it be the kind of stuff suited for a certain floor or floors within Slimelight or some other club like metal or rock?

Well, you know i am kind of lost.
I have many ideas for my music, and not all can be represented in just one style, so my ideas kind of swing between various genres, but yet all go together at the same time.
When i started writing music, it was sequenced using an early version of cakewalk and sounded early-midi and crap:D like a music box. (you probably know what im talking about) but since then technology has evolved and the crappy music box midi has turned into something which sounds more orchestral. Ive been heavily influenced by background music from computer games. Also at that time i was influenced by dance and trance music, so i had a kind of electronic thing and 4 to the floor drum rhythm going on. so my first two albums are kind of a mixture between orchestral soundtrack and electronic dance.
but then i got into rock and metal, and live bands, so i wanted my music to have a more raw feel to it, as i felt that my compositions did occasionly feel a little mechanical and "programmed" so ive experimented a bit with real instruments, electric guitars with distortion, and just raw sounds, quite liking imperfections in sound that a usual musician would try to edit out!
but i havnt made an album of this raw music yet, its just a load of experimentations and brief soundclips. Im hoping to get a band together soon so that i can play some acoustic music live. Ive never played music to an audience, live, before and i feel that as a musician, it is something that I must experience at least once:)
so if i had to put my music into a genre other than "random", id call it something like Progressive Orchestral Raw Noise,
or just PORN for short :)

I've always played stuff by amateurs if it's good and fits in with what I'm doing. There was a good band (well, one guy) called "Deathwatch Beetle Repairman" that I used to play every now and then a few years ago. There was a track, King of the Rooks, which mixed in quite nicely with Cure's Burn (cos it ended with Rook sounds and Burn starts with Crow sounds). Apparently the guy that made the music (who was Canadian iirc) took some convincing that his music was being played in UK clubs.
Thing is though, if you have some music, make sure it's properly labelled and don't hand it into a DJ and expect them to play it there and then, or they will probably play frisbee with it. ;)
