There are always too many, depends on the mood and what I've seen recently etc. It'd be easier to go with "Best film in each genre" or something like that, but even that'd be problematic.

I'm still won on "Batman Begins". Other faves include Rear Window, Edward Scissorhands, Bunuel's "Phantom of Liberty", Se7en, Fight Club, Requiem for a Dream, Metropolis and Blade Runner...
Worthy mentions go to Das Experiment, Bunuel's "The Exterminating Angel" (and many of his others) Hitchcock's The Birds and Rope. Ooh, and check out the original Nosferatu (1929?).

I prefer the Hammer Drac's myself. Bitches with their jugs out 24/7.
I like the Brammie Drac for his muscle armour at the start!
But there needs to be more horror!
MORE GORE!

Ah yes, Mr waters, how can we forget Cry Baby! Ooh, and film buff you... it's called "The Cabinet of Dr Caligari" over here. And it's a magnificent choice which I chose not to mention to avoid too many foreign and art films in my vote. It's up there tho.
I have to agree on the gore front though... have you seen Pan's Labyrinth bibi?

have you seen Pan's Labyrinth bibi?
I have indeed. Recently in Madrid. Loved it because of the originality of that mixture of extreme reality and fantasy. Fantasy being my favourite genre...
Maribel Verdu(also in Tu Mama Tambien) is in my eyes the best spanish actress. And because she is, she is extremely careful with her private life despite starting her career very young.
I forgot The Boondock Saints on my list. And Dune. And yes for Blade Runner.
Oh! And Life is Beautiful and Mediterraneo.
Ok, I stop.
Difficult to choose between them all and those I not mention to not send you to sleep. Depends on mood.

Ah, I can't be bothered with genre really, just a list of films I've liked very much, most of them prolly listed already:
Interview with the Vampire
Aliens (Alien [the first] is good too, but not as good as the second)
Spirited Away
Lord of the Rings (the whole trilogy)
Star Wars (all of it)
Princess Mononoke
The Crow
The Unknown Soldier (Finnish film, two editions, 1955 one (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0048752) and 1985 one (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090215), of which the former is slightly more recommended, though black & white)
Edward Scissorhands
Ghost in the Shell
Coppola's Dracula
Predator (the first is better than the second)
Frozen Land (a Finnish film again, linky (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0388318), full of despair and sadness, no comic reliefs)
Braindead
Fight Club
Blade Runner
A Clockwork Orange
Apocalypse Now
Léon
Trainspotting (I'd also vouch Requiem for a Dream, but I haven't seen it all the way through, just half way to the end)
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Snatch
That's some, I'm sure I forget some I've liked very much in there.

Malachi, I know that I am very manlike, but honestly...
Who did you think I looked like in this pic????
Actually, what do you like in gore? What is interesting or amusing in it? I never got to ask this question to anybody who is into it and I am intrigued, really...
Oh, hold on, I did ask somebody, my cousin who is a mathematic genius. And I really mean genius. I will keep his answer for myself.

I'm a big old school special effects fan. I don't like CGI stuff.
I just like all the latex and tomato ketchup action!

I liked the style of the film and the performances but they changed too much of the story's original form and in doing do lost a major part of the books message.
I hate it when films do that.
And Dwellems.... SNIFF THAT!!!!

Silent Hill 2's the best game in the series (altho they're all fucked up!)...I'm pretty twisted but 2 was just plain fucked up!

I really should get round to playing the games. Some people I used to do internet radio with wouldn't shut up about it. Love the film though, actually a good video game adaption unlike other films based on games. *cough*Uwe Boll must die*cough*
Hehe, trudat. I'd say something about having to give Uwe Boll credit for trying, but really...just no.
Altho I will give the man credit for one thing: he held a boxing event where all those internet critics who panned him could come and throw some punches at him. What they didn't realise was that he was actually pretty damn good at the whole boxing thing. Utter brilliance luring them in only to batter them senseless! ;)

OK, so in no particular order:
Richard Stanley's "Dust Devil". Very underrated movie, I think it's a classic, but actually don't bother with the recently released Director's cut, for once I thought the original was better.
"Hardware". Another Richard Stanley classic! (he's my favourite director, such a shame "Island of Dr. Moreau" ended up being so fucked up! Damn you Marlon Brando!!)
"Samurai Commando". Has to be seen to be believed, pure genius! In a very silly Japanese way! Helps if you know your Japanese history or the whole time travel thing doesn't mean much!
"Casshern". Beautiful to look at, and just great really!
"Ghost in the Shell" and "Ghost in the Shell:Innocence". I know nobody else things much of "Innocence" but I thought it was better than the the first film. If you haven't seen the original "Ghost in the Shell" though it's a must!
"Oldboy". Just watch it! Best film ever!!!!
"Battle Royale". Again, a classic.
"Audition". You'll never go on a blind date ever again!! Kiri, Kiri, Kiri, Kiri!
"Tale of two sisters". Another Korean must.
"Dune". probably not David Lynch's best, but I love it, especially if you can get hold of the made for TV extended version. Makes much more sense if you haven't read the books.
"The Goonies". Yeah I know, but it was the first film I saw at the Cinema on my own, and I really love it. Let's face it, we're all Goonies anyway, that's why we go to Slimelight!!
"Leon:The Director's cut". Luc besson at his best, and the extended version really is a must. It's just very hard to get hold of now I believe.
"Very Long Engagement". Again, visually stunning, and really nicely directed. Enough humour injected into what is quite a sad story.
"The Devil's Backbone". Another classic, I prefer"Pan's Labyrinth", but this is a good film to watch before seeing that one.
"The Cube Trilogy". I know they've been mentioned before but these films are another underrated classic. Such a simple idea so well executed. "Cube two:Hypercube" is probably the weakest of the three, but Cube zero is ace. Such a shame that the "Saw" movies ripped off "the Cube" in every way, and yet the Cube never gets any recognition!
and yeah, I will agree that "Silent Hill" is pretty good too. Definitely the best video game to film so far, I just wish the director had got his own way with it and had not been fucked over by the producers! An all female cast would have worked so much better, and all those last minute additions with Sean Bean really ruin the atmosphere as far as I'm concerned.

Yay!! Another Cube Fan!!
And yeah I've seen The Audition... total creep fest and that torture scene at the end made me heave!!
Silent Hill is by far the best game based movie I've ever seen, I love Resident Evil too but it's not too much about the game is it?! House of the Dead sucks scabby arse!
I saw that article in Bizarre about Uwe Boll and the boxing match and I also thought fair play!! He wiped the floor with all 5 of them!!
I've seen the directors cut of Leon and I found it made me empathise less with Leon... Still, it put a whole different spin on the film which I thought was very clever.
One film I totally forgot to mention is really old and random, it's called "Wish You Were Here" and it's got Emily Lloyd in it. Very bitter-sweet comedy with some amazing script writing and performances... It has aged really well too.

All the best flims start with a burning map.
That said my all time favorite film. Starts with an escaped slave being chased though a C17th French convent. D'artagions Daughter has a witty script that is still funny when it's read off sub-titles, Buckles being swashed all over the place & Sophie Marceau gets her bristols out for no good reason.
And with the added bonus of pretending you're being intellectual, because your watching a French film
