Anyone here a fan of the Saw franchise? I really enjoyed the first one. It was like an even more sadistic version of Se7en.
The second one I found really disapointing as there were no characters to connect to and the death scenes very unimaginative. The twist at the end was pathetic. That he was 'in a safe place' wasnt really a mind game, more a very bad pun.
Saw III had slightly more of a psychological gameplay going on. Unfortuntately still no characters to really root for, but some of the scenes eg the brain surgery scene and slaughter house scene did have me on the edge of my seat. But more for the gore factor rather than the psychological torture I enjoyed in the first one.
It will be interesting to see where they take it next. I think theres enough fuel in the tank for a Saw IV at least, before it's in danger of becoming a horror franchise gimmick.
