What a cast, it's got everything.....Scorsese at what he does best, the role reversal for Matt Damon and Leo DeCaprio, twisted Ray Winstone, boss man Alex Baldwin,Furtive boss Martin Sheen, surprising good as a heavy Markie Mark Wahlberg and of course the undisputted champion Jack Nicholson, what a crack pot.......If I were a critic, the female lead,a virtual unknown and I've already forgotten her name, doh, was a bit weird, maybe it was just her eyes....anyway no napping or you'll lose the plot which is beautifully told by all the cast, and at 3 hours long drink some caffine......funny sad not seeing Deniro, is this the first time he hasn't played the mafia boss in a Scorsese?:p

The original movie "Infernal Affairs" is far better. Hollywood remakes rarely ever work. However The Departed is worth seeing just for Jack Nicholson's performance - he is absolutely brilliant.

I'm not a hugh fan of remakes, although Scorese at the helm is just too much to resist. Scorsese himself balked at the idea of a remake but after reading through the script by William Monahan he thought he could do something different, trust, betrayal, a way of thinking,(his quote from Empire mag).I'm not a big fan of Andy Lau although I did enjoy Moon Warriors and House of flying daggers:)

I liked this movie a lot, the dialogue was very witty. There were a suprising amount of screw-ups in the movie but nothing very distracting. There are numerous twists and the movie ended in a fashion I didn't predict. Personally I didn't like the ending finding it too short and brutal just for the final plot twist but this is a good movie and well worth watching.
Note: I haven't read the book or seen the originall
