Guilty as charged (on the 'oldtimer' front)...
Would the Emma you're referring to be Emma Staclisse (AKA Emma Blue-Hair)? Haven't seen her for quite a while, but think I know how to contact her.
A few more names from that era to conjour with, some I've kept in touch with:
Rocka
Dominic
Tammy
Some I see occasionally:
Emma
Ricky
And some I've heard nothing from for years:
Fred
Fraser & Tacey
Aussie Greg
Ring any bells?

oh no mi aunty em (with the blue hair) has moved to france :(
and rocka is still alive my god he's been around longer than me !!!!
Yup, Rocka's alive & kicking - joined him for a birthday drink last Friday. He did give us a scare with heart trouble a couple of years ago, mind you, and he's not quite as vigorous as he used to be. Lives in the Euston area with his partner Gemma, works as supply manager and IT support for a powder-coating company, still has bright red hair (worn in full Mohican stylee last Friday).
Thanks to lilblu for the update on Emma - now that I think about it, I did hear talk about France. Next time she's back, get her to give me a call (07957 802508)

Hi again
Forgot to let you know I know Dick is in london - he works at Electrowerkz sometimes with a lazer for a club called Elation. He seems pretty much the same but hes grown his hair and its very curly and blonde. Remember he used to shave his head. As soon as I have his number I will send it to you - I know the next Elation is in may so he will be at torrens street that night. If I remember any more - will contact you - its coming back very slowly. I do not remember mixing you up with Dick!
Cheers
Maria
Hi, Maria - I still have photos of you officiating at the 'wedding' at Eros in Picadilly, just before the Libiyan Embasy debacle (complete with top hat & tails). Can't remember the names of the 'bride & groom', though.

If I find it though, and anyone wants to get in touch with her, (obviously I wont let anyone I don't know have the address) I will pass on your address to her.
Course I probably wont find it but you never know!

I am looking for a guy named Paul who used to frequent Slimes around 1995, if anyone knows of him, could you let me know, he used to hail from Bham, but now i'm not so sure.... thanks :P
I first went to slime in 1990 and went religously every weekend for about 2 years.
I've popped back now and then over the years but must say that i have seen abosolutley no one who was there in the early nighties.
Still this didn't stop me having an excellant time on new years when I went on my own too rediscover my teen spirit.
Kinda worked as I plan to come back more regular like.
The people may have changed and even the music but the feel of slimelight is still just as kick arse as ever :)

Hey, i used to go in about 95-98, am comin back this weekend. Used to hang with Pete, Eddy and the Ipswich lot, whove since moved on. Pete used to go out with an American lass called Gemma with red hair, curly and shoulder length. Wonder if shes still about? last saw her @ the Ballroom about two, maybe three years ago? I used to know the Norwich lot, the only two names i can remember where Michelle (dated her for a little while) and someone called julie who they didnt like much at the time! Politics eh? I also used to hang with Uncle linden, Punk James and a few of the others. Know the insanitorium crew quite well, as i lived in colchester for a while! To anyone who may remember me, Howard sez hi! :)

What am I doing here? I've always been here...
I bumped into another of the old crowd when I was paying one of my infrequent visits to Slime recently - a guy named Gavin, who I know through Rocka. Hadn't seen him for a very long time.
Still no contact from Emma Blue-hair - anyone heard from her recently? I'd like to see her, and also ask her about Ricky, one of my oldest London mates who I've completely lost contact with.

Hi Ross
I remember Gavin, (don't s'pose he remembers me though!!!) How is he?
Has anyone heard from blue haired Emma and Ricky yet? it would be nice to know how they are.
If anyone's heard from Nigel and his twin brother (think his name was ralph!), Lisa (nigel's ex last I heard) dave and tim, it would be nice to know what happened to them too, ohh and Belle . But they all may be known better from the electric ballroom.
Anyway, if anyone knows what happened to any of them, it would be nice to know :-)

Hi. I'm an oldie too. Been around from 1991-1993. Then left London.
This year looking forward to visit. Probably everything's changed.
I was keeping to myself a lot and don't remember any names anymore. We've a small community here and I'll be bringing one oldie along as well as a few newbies. Maybe in springtime.
Can anyone suggest best goth clubbing, caffeeing and bars? Also what would be a good place to sleep-over?
Missed y'all.
Venus.
Hi,
I started going to Slimes every week from early 91 till 94 when I moved away from London. Been going less regularly since then, seems to be a different layout every time I go now.
Big hello to Helen and Trudy and their bunch.. haven't seen them for over a decade ?!?

Hi, Julian here and I'm interested in tracking down a girl called Heather who used to hang about the upstairs dance floor in that corner where the leather sofas were near the dj steps. (My spot back in 93/94.) I frequented Malice Underground in gossips for the last 6 years of its life and seem to be back regularly Sliming it along with Dead & Buried and Tenebrae nights.
I think I remember Ross vaguely. I believe he'd remember Terry, an old friend of mine who I see still.

If it was fairly recently that you refer to (last year or two), then I know her very well! Red bobbed hair? Dark skin? 8)

Ahh, sadly not. I refer back to a time many moons ago about a decade and a bit when that wonderful upstairs dancefloor was open with the alcove bits and netting on the walls, etc. It got closed down due to Health & Safety issues, I gather. :( Did I hear a one off night happening up there not too long ago? Perhaps New years?
It certainly did ... it was New Years (the one before last). I too remember that floor open every weekend in its full glory (well, full gloominess actually). I believe it was shut due to an inadequate fire escape ... the Council said that it was only adequate for a small amount of people, which is obviously no good for a dancefloor!

Holding a dancefloor on a firescape is madness I tell you, madness! ;)
(yup, that's about the size of it tho...keep you ears open tho cuz it wouldn't surprise me if they do a few other nights with that floor open at some point.)

So I often wonder how many of todays' regulars ever realise/remember the funny little tin building at the end of Torrens Street in use as the old Angel Tube Station entrance with Lifts down to the one central platform? That's why one platform is wider than the other today!!
OK, I'll go you one better: how many current regulars know that the Slimelight used to squat the building opposite the entrance to Torrens St.? It's now a pawnshop, but it used to be an empty Bank of Scotland building, and it was the first Slimelight venue I went to, though it wasn't called the Slimelight at that stage.
I didn't use the old Angel Tube often, since I usually drove to & from Slimes (which made for some interesting return journeys...). In fact, I was the beer wagon - in the pre-bar days, a guy named Fraser used to sell beer, and got me to transport it from Notting Hill in the back of my Rover 3500.

I remember the top goth floor. Everyone used to hang round the steps that went up to where the cloakroom was last New Years. I disappeared for a few years so when I returned I was shocked as hell as to how much Slimes had changed! 8O
I don't remember the little hut, but then we always used to drive up or get a bus.

When I first started going to Slimelight the goth floor was at the top and there was a raver floor at the bottom. I used to hang around on the "industrial floor" though, never really used to go upstairs, especially with no elephant gun to hand.
Check out the old flyers in the gallery ... Slimelight was originally nomadic, but this was before my time.
I remember that techno floor downstairs ... it only lasted a few weeks (maybe a couple of months)! 8)

Well I'm 35 but I know of quite a few patrons now in their early 40's. Gosh, Goth must be one of the few sub-cultures to span a generation or so!!
So Slimelight used to be somewhere else and wasn't called Slimelight? On what grounds are you defining it as Slimelight? :P
Erm... on the grounds that it was run by Mac & Detty, had the same Djs and the same regulars.
OK, ancient history time. Once there was a punk/goth club in an old restaurant in Westbourne Grove called the Kit Kat. It was eventually shut down, and the original promoters has some sort of falling out (this was before my time, so I know not details). One bloke named Simon (Manchester?) went off to continue the Kit Kat in the Comedy Store, which at that time was in a basement on Leicester Square.
Mac & Detty continued to run their own club, though I think the 'official' name was Sound FX (at least, that's what my ancient membership card says). Everyone called it the Kit Kat anyway, which was mildly confusing. When I first went, it was in the Bank of Scotland building - amazing place, loads of huge vaults under the building. It also operated, at various times, in an old shoe shop in Upper Street, in an office building in Rosebery Avenue, and most memorably in an abandoned church in Holborn.
It was the church that generated the name 'Slimelight' - the Limelight also had a goth(-ish) club called Planet Earth, and the Limelight is in an old church, so the name was a piss-take. There was a huge banner over the door saying "Slimelight" on the first night (and fire eaters, and I have a vague memory that someone was actually playing the organ when we first arrived). It actually sucked as a venue - it was too big for the sound system, the dancefloor had carpet on it, and it got light inside when the sun came up. But it had class.
There was also a memorable half-hour of clubbing in the Libyan Embassy, before the cops arrived, but that's another story...
This was all back in the late 80's. I can't remember when the current permanent location opened, though I know it was a New Year party because I was there - probably New Year '88. They've been at the Electrowerkz ever since.
Ross's rendition of Slimelight history is fascinating. Gosh, how old are you? Hehe! By the way Ross, do you remember Terry?
Ummm - 44. And still going to Slimes from time to time - plotting to get there this weekend for Trad Goth night, if I'm lucky. Sorry, the name Terry doesn't ring a bell. I probably knew the face, but I've forgotten a lot of the names. Advanced years & all that....

That'll be Simon Hobart then. Police dressed as Goths, watching the soon-to-be infamous venue, saw no club managers or owners at the place: just the 17-year old DJ. 200 police (dressed, also, as Goths?) descended upon the premises. Hobart got away with community service. The Sun came up with the great headline for the story 'Godfather of Goth'.

I remembering hearing how Houdini's trunks were found in the crypt of the Holborn church - if that were true no doubt much spewing has gone on by those who neglected to hold on to them (God Bless E-Bay).
Memorable nights & some too messy 2 remember all of at Westbourne Grove (& the church & Roseberry Ave & the Shoebox & the Bank - although I only made it to the front door of the embassy b4 the cops showed up - and while we're on the subject the 1st ever TG & some rockin' mutoid waste parties) & I'm not all that old I was just quite young back then (although I would have considered 33 ancient then).
Does anyone remember the things that went on in the vault of the bank?
Or how about when Zain (everybody's favourite greenhaired 5 foot 4 biker) did the fire breathing from the balcony (or pulpit) of the church over everyone in the pews? Definitely a highlight when combined with the sight of (correct me if I'm wrong) Mac dressed as a priest & the other 'management' bods dressed as choirboys.
How about the Torren St TG where the old geezer carked it on the top floor - can't remember if he was being whipped at the time or whether it was all too much fun for him.
Does anyone remember the things that went on in the vault of the bank?
Yeah - bit of a surprise to a newly arrived Kiwi...
Or how about when Zain (everybody's favourite greenhaired 5 foot 4 biker) did the fire breathing from the balcony (or pulpit) of the church over everyone in the pews? Ah, yes, Zain - thanks, I'd forgotten his name. I met him through Rocka in my first month in London, but haven't seen him for years. Someone else was doing the fire breathing on that balcony with him, but I can't recall who it was.
I don't remember Mac 'officiating' in robes, but it was a long time ago. Do you remember the organ being played? I swear someone was playing when I first arrived on the opening night - we got there pretty early (from the Duke of Norfolk) because my friend Marcella had a car. I do remember that everyone usually ended up chatting in the rooms downstairs, because the atmosphere upstairs wasn't very 'club-like'.
I wonder if, in years to come, people will say "I used to go to Synthetic Culture when it was at the Ballroom".
LOL  - yeah, possibly. The point is, the Slimelight was merely a name change for an existing club that floated around different squat venues. Nothing else changed when "Kit Kat"/SoundFX became Slimelight, and everyone just moved around when the club did. I think Synthetic Culture will be somewhat different to Full Tilt - particularly as Rex's version of Full Tilt was at least the third or fourth generation anyway. That's sort of a counter-example - whereas Mac & Detty are Slimelight, the Ballroom and Full Tilt together are the club and Rex (like Belle before him, and Ian before that) is not.
That'll be Simon Hobart then.
Ah, thanks - I couldn't remember his surname.
Sounds a lot like 'Wraith' which was in various places, usually basements. Can't remember who ran that though
I can see him, but I can't remember his name (and there may have been others involved). Wraith was sort of the anti-Slimelight - people who didn't like Slime went to Wraith and vice-versa, and there was something of a grudge between the two. Because I had a car, I used to occasionally do both on a Saturday - start off at Slime, then head down to Wraith at about 4 to catch up with a few friends who refused to go near Slimelight (or, probably, were banned :) ).

Hey – great history lesson! I enjoyed that! Never even knew slimes used to be in other places.
Ahhh, the old tube station – I loved it! So dark, dingy, scary! It felt so right on a morning after slimes. It just belonged to the whole experience really, I reckon. I can’t believe what they’ve done to the place! In fact, I’ve been boycotting the new station for years, but did recently have to give in and see it in all its ghastliness. Why, why do they have to make everything new & shiny? It’s not right. Such a shame. :x
Sorry about the rant, but I feel better now.
Wraith was called Creation towards the end, wasn’t it? Or was that something different?
And Torture Garden used to be in Shepherds Bush. Does anyone know if this was their first venue? Or did I miss all the pre-history? It was a fiver to get in then – how times have changed, eh?
I can see him, but I can't remember his name (and there may have been others involved).
The main man was Big Mac (to differentiate him from 'Mak', or Cheeseburger if you prefer (though he didn't)...and a gaggle of ex-Slime goths including some git who looked a lot like me...traitors, all of 'em!!

I can't BELIEVE the club is still around!
I used to live in London -87 -88 and went to KitKat, Slime, Scream, all those clubs back then, but I moved back to Sweden and left the whole scene behind. Probably saved my life, actually...
But damn did we have fun!
I'm going back to London for New Years and would LOVE to see some of the old faces!
It's all very foggy, but some names are coming back to me when reading your posts...
Big Mac, Simon, a few faces float up in my memory...
Damn, my heart went nuts just thinking about those crazy days!
No chance anyone remebers me, I guess...?

Hi, I used to travel down most weeks from Nottingham 92-95 and I am trying to catch up with people. I was tall with a big backcombed mohawk, lots of fishnet, lycra, heels and a girlie makeup. Remember some of the names on here esp Dette who I loved to pieces(used to meet up in the Blue Angel beforehand to get hammered with the owners of the pub a married couple I can't remember). D also showed up one week with a half burnt face cos she'd been pissed the night before and used nail polish remover on her face instead of make up remover!
Used to knock around with Neil and his girlfriend from Chatham and some more of that crowd, some Luton goths, Chrysania(Tracey),Karim,Ricky( there were 2; i straight who came to Notts a few times and another one, who lived on Sheerness(?) who was gay. There was also Christian, and the Leicester contingent including Ben(gay), Ollie and the girls I can't recall. Anyone know where Suzie and Nicky, originally from Leicester are? They moved to London 92ish and were into fetish/goth clubs etc. Another guy was called(Old) Mick, only 30's who also travelled to Notts a few times.
One last person; Another Mick. Affectionatley known as druggie Mick. He was quite normal dressing, cropped hair, mid - late30's who was always scrounging drink etc or trying to impress the girls before taking me home with him(such a slut!)
I had a saying back then that has followed me for years...WORTHLESS!
Oh, well..........

I also recall a Seamus(someone told me he was still working in Camden somewhere), a podgyish guy called Dominic, all tight jeans and frilly white shirts(as if that narrows it down!) and is Allen TG(ooh that gorgeous man) still involved with Torture Garden? And his ex Louisa? Is she still around?(Another ex Leicester girl if memory serves me right).

I'm searching for a guy called Ben, I think he still goes out regularly - he comes from Southampton originally. I've not been down for a few years now so we've lost touch. He lived with Doug for a while, who dated Crystal briefly. He's tall, skinny and mumbles!
Hey I know ben, he still turns up 4rm time 2 time.
