question:
if you were to go to a festival, be it a one, two or three day event, what is your idea of the perfect bill? what bands would you like to see play, no matter how unrealistic....

Mera Luna this year has it pretty close, but I'm biased. :D

ohhhh thats a tough one,
Opening would have to be Ayria at the mo check out their stuff some time it's great
then in no particular order. Apop, VNV nation, Combichrist, SITD, Mesh, Seabound, Front 242, Assemblage 23 and headlining would have to be NIN

Rammstein
and erm... Rammstein?

This Morn'Omina, Billy Idol, Joy Division, Ah-Cama-Sotz(forever), David Bowie, The Pretenders, Massive Attack, Aviador Dro, Rob Zombie(Oh yeah!), The Prodigy( ) and the headline goes to....
Genitorturers!!!
(The order for the other bands can be altered and also I may add more...)

HMMMMM tough
I'd say A sheer night of pomposity and extreme noise
for danciness and reckless abandon I'd say
feindflug,S.K.E.T,sonar or dive rasputin,winterkalte,portion control,front 242
frontline,monolith,nitzer ebb,Hiv+,powder pussy,this morn omina,the young gods,noisex
and for the power electronics(troo industrial music)
Genocide organ,whitehouse,anenzephalia,institution D.O.L,BDN,deutsch nepal
in slaughter natives, painslut, rasthoff dachau topped off by the masters of the genre throbbing gristle !!!

Yeah, The Young Gods too...
StevenRaith
09-05-2006, 09:27 PM
Massive Attack, Aviador Dro, Rob Zombie(Oh yeah!), The Prodigy( )
Correctness.
Along with the above, I would like to add:
Plastikman
Death In Vegas [preferably with more early stuff]
and some generaic darker indie/rock bands [Queens Of The Stone Age, Slayer, Nine Inch Nails, etc]
I would have QOTSA headline playing most of Songs For The Deaf, just to suck in the mainstream audience. Then get some heavier stuff going....draw them in....don't let them out....
I like some of the lighter stuff as well tho [The Killers, The Cure etc] but I shouldn't admit that here, I might get hung, drawn and quartered....;-)
Edit: If Rammstein didn't show up, I'd have to go to germany and set fire to them.
Rammstien = the [censored] shiznit. IndustrialWarrior, you aren't the only big fan of DuetschIndustrialRockTranceyShizzle on here...

gothness??!
i'm not really a "goth", lol!
i listen to metal, industrial metal, and what i call industrial (but the purists get pedantic about what is "industrial" and what isn't, so i'll just say 'electronic music to appease them :D )
terrorfakt etc play harsh crunchy rhythmic stuff, found (usually) on the top floor at slimes (though it depends on which dj is on).
it most certainly is not goth!!!!
Tactical Sekt, Glis, Ayria, Psyclon Nine, PowderPussy, NIN, Marilyn
Manson, Terrorfakt, Noisuf-x, Vultures, Atari Teenage Riot, Suicide Commando, Combichrist, Ohgr, Kiew, Ministry, Die Krupps, Flesh Field... um... don't you just end up listing your favourite bands!?!?

Ohgr but no Skinny Puppy?
There is a difference between favourite bands and favourite live bands though, a few of my favourite bands suck live, and there's a lot of bands I've seen who were great live but sucked otherwise.
Black Sunshine
10-05-2006, 07:52 AM
Xotox, Terrorfakt, RATM, Noisuf-X, Hypnoskull, Lenny Dee & Neophyte doing a Vs set would be awesome, Rammstein, Suicide Commando, Napalm Death, The Berzerker, Massive Attack, Viral Lode, KMFDM.
Think I would be eternally happy if that happened

My perfect (& grossly unrealistic) line up would be:
Nitzer Ebb, Scapa Flow, Front 242, Skinny Puppy (with the Last Rights-era stage show), Einstuerzende Neubauten, Laibach, The Klinik, Dive, T. Raumschmiere, DAF, Megaptera*, Clan of Xymox (playing "Stranger" repeatedly just to appease me! :D), Die Krupps (focusing on tracks from Volle Kraft Voraus), Deutsch Nepal, Spetsnaz, Suicide, Tuxedomoon, Cocteau Twins, The Hacker, Dopplereffekt, Adult., Al Ferox, Ellen Allien, This Morn Omina, Underground Resistance, Richie Hawtin (Decks, FX & 909 era) & last but not least, :Wumpscut: & Haus Arafna because, hell, it's my fantasy line up, so I can dream the impossible! :D
As for the headliner... that would have to be Kate Bush.*
There are so many more that I can't think of right now, but hey, I'm more than happy going to a festival just to see any one of those artists. :)
*edited to say: In Alice's fantasyland Kate will now be joint headline with Megaptera... their new live album/swansong arrived in the post from Sweden today... I don't have the words to describe how damn good it is. Just... wow. Incredible. They win at music... well, terrifyingly eerie music at least. :D

Easter Sunday 2007 at the Astoria from 2pm - midnight:
VNV Nation & Apoptygma Berzerk - To get all the goth kids to come in and help financing the event.
Front 242 - To get the crowd going.
KMFDM - To take care of the ones who are strangley unmoved by Front 242.
MINISTRY - To finish off the beer-swilling, head-banging biker-chicks and guys to make way for the main event that is
Skinny Puppy - And this time, I want them switch off the fucking lights in the Astoria (not like last time...). Finally,
The Young Gods - For the final trip-out. A 40 minute version of "Moon Revolutions" would do nicely, thanks.
So, Flag promotions, How about it? I bet you guys could put this show on the road as a complete tour...

Lol, sorry, was elbow deep in printer parts when typing that and just ended up generalising, badly...
What I mean to say was that I'm not particularly 'alternative' in any way, I just like dark overtones in my music, the darker the better.
Perhaps a slight giveaway to that is that some of the harder Muse stuff would need to be lined up - it does translate to live playing well according to the pile of MP3s I was listening to last night after getting a bit hammered.
Also, if anyone has sampled a BRM V16 racing car to a bare electronic bass and drums, they could stick that on - a good caucophony of noises that.

Dear Lord, girl, how about Till bringing on a big cauldron, Flake poking his head out to hit a note and then hiding back inside, Till lighting a fire underneath it and then chasing Flake round the stage... not to mention rowing a dinghy over the heads of the audience.
Trust me, honey; shit-hot music, fire, comedy. By the shovel-full.
