Could anyone point me in the right direction of a generally friendly pub/bar nearby? Not after anything in particular, just somewhere I know I'm hopefully not going to be hassled/heckled etc..
Coming up this saturday afternoon by means of the glorious train. Should be a good night! Will hopefully go about completing a membership form, then I'll be up as many times as possible :).
If you see me, come say hi, I'd really appreciate it! Red and black wool braids, red eye shape panels on T and trousers, some red wire wrapped around my arm, if i fancy it! Ill be on the industek floor most of the night i expect.

It's not that far from slimes.
Only 5-10 mins away on the tube.

And I doubt other pubs gather Slime-going crowd. There's bound to be random pubs around in Angel though.

There is the Mucky Pup in Islington which is generally Alternative friendly although as far as I've seen, very few pre-slimes crowds. But small, friendly and I've never has any hassle in there. Quite a walk from slimes in the opposite direction. A bIt of a weird one to find though.....If you want directions let me know :o)

Yes, could you be a bit more specific about where Mucky Pup is? What's the music like? (I don't expect goth really but I'm still curious). Cheers.

The Music varies. Generally rock/metal type. Depends on the night really. The sometimes do theme nights. The last time I was in (NYE) they had a Rocky Horror Night which was pretty cool.
Right....directions....
Out of the Angel Tube station....take a right, keep walking down that road. You'll pass The Fork In The Road and you need to turn right into St Pauls/St Peters street (I really can't remember the exact road name) but it st P something lol) then take the next left and it should be at the end of the road on the right. Its on a corner and there's a sign hanging outside with a big paw print on. :o) Is that of any help to you?

Huh!??
That is 5 minutes walk from home!! Great! Since the disparition of Purple Turtle in Essex Road, I thought there was nothing alternative around here...
Thanks for that! :)
I guess it closes at 11pm, does it?

Aaaaahhhh I see the amusement Snowy! It's because I'm not a local ;o)
Usually I'm heading for the car or nearest station to head home unfortuntely....:o(
I usually have to be in work by 8am on the Monday and as I'm travelling/recovering on the Sunday....can't really afford my energy reserves to continue to yet another party.....I haven't even looked to continue the party to be honest...so..er....hence my lack of local post slimes followings :o)
Is it a regulars thing at the Blue Sunflower or just anyone who happens to be freely walking past in a certain dress code (if any)?!

It is members only, but membership is free. Cost £3 to get in and is at managements discretion.

Oh that's cool. Handy to know if I want to be a corpse in work on the Monday morning lol. Could be ideal on dress up days I guess!
So where is this Blue Sunflower?

Just had a shufty for the Devonshire Arms - looks, handily, like a nice half hour-40min walk to Slimes.
Might be somewhere I could go for a few post overtime beers, then walk them off on the way to the proper venue...

If you don't want to walk (the shortest route isn't a nice area to walk through) and don't want to pay for the tube, you can get the 274 bus to very close to Slimelight. The Devonshire is at the back of Sainsbury's, walk round to the other side of Sainsburys to the bus stop outside Sainsbury's. Take the 274 to the end of the route!

As of today (or rather yesterday apparently), the Dev does not exist anymore.
New pub, new managers, clone of other rock/metal pubs

Yup, just went to The Dev tonight. It's now a pale imitation of The Intrepid Fox. Apparently the name is being changed to the 'Hobgoblin' as well.

How can a pub just change its "style" one day?
"We have sacked the staff and it is now a metal pub"?
Weird - and no-one heard any rumours?

All the staff were fired. Robin and Janine, the management who live above The Dev, were given a week to vacate the premises.

Two hours notice for the management?
Jesus H Christ.
I hope they "borrowed" a few bits as they left.
I know I would if I were treated in such a disrespectful manner.
Are they ok, Robin and Janine?

They're not exactly over the moon about it but doing as well as can be expected. I wrote up my Thursday night here:
