I thought it was Ok actually, wouldn't mind being able to fight like that :)
Lizard,
Did you like the first one?
I haven't seen this second one yet. Everyone said the first one was crap, but when I saw it, I thought it was excellent! The peepz who thought the first one was crap just didn't get was Tarrantino was doing!!
I'll definitely be checking out the second one anyway

yeah i saw the first one and like you thought it was very good ( wouldn't go as far as to say it was excellent though) so was looking forward to the 2nd one, well i won't spoil it for you ( probarbly did already) but you now know my thoughts on it.

Not at all mate. I told you why; it's just that the Japanese were doing it better over 20 years ago!!! Simple as ;)
Besides, I wouldn't say Kill Bill (vol.1 anyway) was crap, I wouldn't say that it was great either.

I didn't realize that was the opinion of all those people that thought it was crap! :o
Perhaps not, but your reason doesn't apply to all of those people either...
Touché :P

we see this all the time with remakes of Jap. / Asia extreme films by our great american counter parts, Thankgod for Hollywood...... not
I know, it's sad but true.
I guess we can at least be greatful that Kill Bill didn't go down the "pump it full of CG/special effects & hopefully no-one will notice how bad it really is" route as you often see with the American take on things!

I guess we will omitt all the blood scenes then?
I'm not 100% sure they were CG, if they were then it was an expensive way to make a cheap looking effect!
Reminded me more of the stuff they were doing back in the 80's (I think that was Tarrantinos intention)...
Check out the Babycart films if you haven't already, classic stuff :D

That still had to be censored for the UK release anyway :(

I thought KB2 was good - a real change of pace from the first movie, which is odd when you consider it was all one film but cut in half (like so many of the cast :) )
I'm pretty sure the retro style/feel of the KB movies was intentional. Tarantino's films always seem to have that - usually a very 70s method of filming, as well as styles. He seems to set out to make a homage to a particular time/genre, and in this case it included a homage to the whole 70s martial arts movie thing, along with the manga/anime influences...
I liked 'em both, I liked 'em a lot....stylish.

I dunno, i thought the whole blood squirting thing was put in jus plain for commic effect, juxtaposing the "extreme" fights scene with comic blood quituing, i enjoyed it an thought it worked quite well. He knew he was being weel over the top, thats why it was funny. an i mean come on the last fight sence in vol.1 proves the point, theres no way we were sposed to take that seriously! how many people was it on 1?!
as films in general, i thought each film, by its own merit were good films..However i personally loved the 1st one and so had v.high expectaions for the 2nd, and felt a little let down, its a good film, i jus thinks my hopes were too high..

Yeah, I think most of Tarantino's films are, to some extent, tongue-in-cheek, plus I think the overabundance of blood was really going for a comic-book and a shock/comedy effect. The whole movie was a comic-book after all. Also, the amount of violence would probably have been REALLY unaaceptable to a lot of people if it handn't been made so obviously unreal...
I think the difference of the second film from the first is what caused the disappointment for a lot of people - as was said above, it wasn't what they were expecting. The trouble is that if you just go for more of the same, you can end up like The Matrix, where the later movies featured pretty much the same stuff as the first one, but for some reason seemed nowhere near as good (IMHO).
It's all rather strange, when you consider that Kill Bill 1 and 2 were never conceived or filmed as seperate movies...it was just one film that was too long and had to be cut in half (so the story goes).

I thought KB1 was fantastic and I doubt I'll ever be able to get thewhistling out of my head. However KB2 was well very meh it didn't feel like it had any substance imho.
Incidently contrary to an earlier post KB was far from one film cut in half it was actually several shorts stuck together to make 2 films Tarantino was inspired by the serials they used to show before the main picture. And that was the feel he wanted, hence the seperate chapters. I personally think if the order of the chapters ie deaths of the baddies had been jigged around a bit and Uma character had responded more violently or at least differently to the twist atb the end of KB2 it would have made for a much better pair of films.
